Reconstructing the temperature of Earth's past to understand future
climate change
Dr. Jamie Lucarelli, Postdoctoral Fellow, UCLA Department of Earth, Planetary, and
Space Sciences
This talk will be about temperature reconstructions for particular past time intervals, including epochs that are
believed to have had CO2 concentrations equal to or greater than present.
Jamie Lucarelli is a postdoctoral fellow in the Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences Department at UCLA, and
part-time faculty in the Geological Sciences department at California State University San Bernardino. Her
research uses mass spectrometry to shed light on how Earth's temperature has changed through time, and how
marine organisms build their shells and skeletons through biomineralization.
